Programs

Since its founding in 1913 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has clearly distinguished itself as a public service organization that boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans.

Educational Development

Natchez Alumnae Chapter is dedicated to providing quality educational development programs for community youth. Programs including school supply drives, ACT workshops, mentoring initiatives, and scholarships are provided each year to promote academic development, increase youth self-esteem, and provide increased access to cultural activities.

Economic Development

Natchez Alumnae Chapter continues to impact the community through the area of Economic Development, coordinating services that range from food drives, food distributions, and clothing drives to workshops and business expos.

International Awareness & Involvement

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. holds the issues of the international community close to her heart. Chapters across the world simultaneously recognize and act upon the major concerns that plague countries around the globe such as the water crisis in Africa. The Natchez Alumnae Chapter hosts workshops to enlighten the public on what can be done to assist others around the planet. Our chapter has executed programs for the International Day of Service and World AIDS Day, and we provide outreach to the international community. Our programs have donated much needed supplies, clothing, and shoes that are provided to citizens beyond our US borders.

Physical & Mental Health

The local chapter is committed to improving the health and wellness of those we serve. We have instituted a number of internal and external activities that increase awareness across generations of the health issues and chronic diseases impacting Mississippi and the African American community and provide opportunities for members of our community to “get active” for healthier lifestyles. The chapter hosts yearly events with community partners and provides free health screening, healthy snacks, healthy lifestyle resources, and exercise activities such as Zumba, walking, and line dancing. Youth and adults participate to learn about health and wellness, health statistics, and ways to increase physical and mental health. Additionally, we support a number of partnering organizations, including the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, St. Jude, and the NAACP.

Political Awareness & Involvement

Natchez Alumnae Chapter can boast a membership with 100% registered voters. As voting residents, chapter members are active in various events throughout the year which include political awareness forums and rallies, voter registration drives, voting rights, candidate forums, information on election and political initiatives, census updates, civil rights issues, and providing resources for those in need. Many of our Political Awareness and Involvement activities are in collaboration with our Social Action initiatives. The chapter hosts a number of events, participates with other MS chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at Delta Days at the MS Capitol.
